Philippe Bourgoin lives in Paris. —  Philippe Bourgoin

Philippe Bourgoin is a Parisian through and through – except for stints in the USA and Cambodia. Born and raised in the capital of France, Bourgoin was exposed from an early age to the impressive imagery of Paris’s old buildings and the extraordinary art in it’s grand museums… influences that stick with him to this day. His uncle enjoyed photography, whih rubbed off on Bourgoin as aboy, especially the use of Polaroid cameras. Turned on by the cinema, he made his way to NYU Film School in New York in the 1970’s.After filming his thesis about the famous Chelsea Hotel, Bourgoin penned a feature film script – “Moi, Fleur Bleue”… in America “Stop Calling me Baby!” – that was filmed in Paris, starring the young Jodie Foster…

In 2006 Bourgoin and his wife returned to Paris, where the artist’s photographic interests have flowered. He does personal photography work, mainly portraits and nudes on Polaroid and Impossible Project films. He has shown his pictures in group and solo shows in Paris – and in books like The Mammoth Book of Erotic Photography #4 and Raw Beauties. He is working step by step, on two new books: a book of Polaroid portraits, and his “Pornopovera” series of experimental instant film emulsion transfers on watercolor paper.
